FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Answered.
Everything you'd want to know before reaching out — about the process, about Thomas, about how projects work.
About the Process
What does "design-build" actually mean?
One company handles design, permits, and construction under one contract. You don't hire a designer and then separately bid out the work. Thomas designs it and builds it. Same person, same vision, start to finish.
No handoffs. No telephone game between a designer who specced something and a contractor who has to build it. What gets designed is what gets built — because the same team does both. See how it works: our 8-step build process.
How does the process start?
With a conversation about your property and what you want to build. Thomas does a site visit, reviews the scope, and gives you a written proposal that covers the full outdoor build. No surprises after you sign.
How long does an outdoor build or landscape project take?
Every project timeline depends entirely on scope. A defined landscape design from our Landscape Architect typically runs 1–4 weeks depending on the number of revision rounds. Permitting timelines vary based on what's being permitted — some scopes require no permits, others involve Collier County building review which runs on its own schedule. Construction duration depends completely on scope and complexity.
Thomas provides a realistic timeline estimate at the proposal stage — specific to your project, not a generic range. For clients who need to move faster: we can engage a private inspector to expedite the inspection process where applicable.
Do you handle permits?
Yes. We pull all permits and manage inspections. Our General Contractor license (FL CGC1539932) covers the full scope of outdoor estate construction — structural, hardscape, planting, lighting, and drainage.
You don't coordinate with the county — we do. You don't track inspection schedules — we do. One less thing on your list.
What happens if something needs to be corrected after the build?
Thomas walks the property personally at completion and doesn't consider a project closed until everything matches the design plan. If something isn't right, we fix it before handover — not after.
Because Thomas is on-site throughout construction, most issues are caught and resolved in the field, not at the final walkthrough. That's the advantage of a principal-led build over a managed one.
About Precision Landscaping & Design
What's the difference between you and a regular landscaping company?
A landscaping company plants and maintains. We design, engineer, permit, and build — full outdoor estates across multiple trades under one contract.
Pool coordination, dock construction, outdoor kitchens, hardscape, drainage, lighting, planting. One team, one contract, one person accountable from first plan to final walkthrough. That's not a landscaping company — it's a design-build contractor that specializes in estate outdoor environments.
Is Thomas actually on every job?
Yes. Thomas is the lead on every project. Not a project manager you've never met — Thomas. If something needs a decision, he makes it on site.
This is a deliberate choice. It's part of why we maintain a limited project list. Quality doesn't scale without accountability, and Thomas is the accountability.
What licenses do you hold?
Licensed General Contractor (FL CGC1539932). Permits through Collier County and Licensed Landscape Contractor — both current in Florida.
These licenses mean we can pull permits, sign off on inspections, and take legal responsibility for the full outdoor scope — not just one part of it.
How many projects do you take on at once?
We limit active projects to maintain quality and Thomas's personal involvement. If we're at capacity, Thomas will tell you honestly rather than overcommit.
If there's a wait, it's because we're protecting the quality of the projects already in progress.
Do you work with custom home builders?
Yes. We work alongside custom home builders as the outdoor construction partner on new construction finishes. We understand construction sequencing, coordinate directly with the builder's project manager, and deliver on schedule — the outdoor scope never holds up a close date.
We've worked with builders in the Naples area and understand what they need: a reliable sub that communicates, shows up, and doesn't create punch list problems. See how we support builders: working with custom home builders.
About Your Project
What's the minimum project size?
Single-trade scopes start around $20,000 — a hardscape area, a lighting system, a planting scope. Estate-scale multi-trade builds typically start at $150,000 and scale from there depending on scope and trades involved.
Thomas will tell you upfront if your project is the right fit.
Do you work outside of Naples?
Yes — all of Southwest Florida. Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, Estero, Marco Island, Sanibel, Cape Coral, and surrounding communities.
See our full service area: Where We Build.
Do you coordinate with architects, interior designers, or other trades?
Yes. Precision operates as the outdoor construction lead — we coordinate with architects, interior designers, structural engineers, and all other trades working on the property. We manage sequencing so the outdoor scope integrates with the overall build rather than conflicting with it.
For new construction projects, we plug into the builder's schedule and coordinate directly. We've never had a close date delay attributed to the outdoor scope.
Do you do maintenance after the build?
No. We design and build. Ongoing maintenance is handled by maintenance specialists who focus on exactly that. We can refer you to trusted providers in the area.
Can you match an HOA-approved design?
Yes. We're familiar with the requirements and approval processes for most major communities in Collier and Lee counties. We've navigated HOA approvals across Port Royal, Grey Oaks, Mediterra, Pelican Bay, and others.
We submit the complete design package before breaking ground — so there are no re-approval cycles mid-construction.
Can you work on a property that's been partially built by another contractor?
It depends on what's there and what's needed. Thomas will assess the existing work, identify what's salvageable, and give you an honest evaluation. We won't build on top of work that will cause problems later and won't document liability we didn't create.
In some cases a fresh start is the right answer. Thomas will tell you which it is.
Working Together

Fill out the contact form below or call (239) 300-8636. Thomas responds personally.
What information should I have ready for the first call?
Property address, rough idea of what you want to build, and a sense of timeline. Everything else can be discussed on the call.
You don't need a plan. You don't need a budget number. You just need a property and a vision. Thomas helps turn the vision into a scope.
How quickly do you respond to inquiries?
Thomas reviews every inquiry personally and responds the same day in most cases. If you reach out by phone and he's on-site, he'll call back the same evening.
We don't route inquiries through a sales team. If you reach out, you hear from Thomas.
Do you provide references?
We have 23 verified 5-star Google reviews from past clients. Thomas can also connect you with past clients directly if the project warrants it.
