Travertine or marble decking
Honed or tumbled stone that stays cooler underfoot and grips when wet. Light field. Not polished. Not a dark west-exposure mistake.
POOL DECK REMODEL · NAPLES, FL
The terrace you live on. Cool stone. Honest drainage.
TELL THOMAS ABOUT THIS DECK Or call Thomas: (239) 300-8636A Naples pool deck remodel is for the pool already in the ground. Cracked concrete. Pavers that cook at 3 p.m. Drains that pond through June and September. Coping that has walked off the beam. The shell can stay. The terrace is the room you live in.
Precision Landscaping & Design rebuilds that room as a system — compacted crushed-stone base, fall away from the water, coping that matches the field, and a joint at the beam so the deck and the shell can move independently. Not a surface glued over last year’s failure.
If the interior needs work, a licensed pool contractor is coordinated under the same contract. You do not run two crews.
TELL THOMAS ABOUT THIS DECK
DECK · COPING · DRAINAGE
Honed or tumbled stone that stays cooler underfoot and grips when wet. Light field. Not polished. Not a dark west-exposure mistake.
New pavers over existing concrete only if the slab drains, is structurally honest, and still clears cage doors and coping. If it has failed, we demo.
Coping is the finish at the water — not leftover pallet. Bullnose, custom-cut, or a concrete border. Never spike-in plastic restraint at the shell.
Fall to deck drains or a designed edge. Never toward the pool. Never toward a lawn that already ponds in the wet season. Typical pool-deck base: 4 inches compacted.
Step and accent LED with conduit set before the field closes. Warm white. Specified with the deck — not cut in after the pavers are down.
Turf inlay, fire feature, planter irrigation, HIDE skimmer lids. Screen-cage door height and fasteners coordinated — we do not build the enclosure.
EXISTING POOL · EXISTING SHELL
A new shell is a different job — permits, gunite, months. If the structure holds water, the high-leverage work is the terrace: the surface you walk, the edge you sit on, the drains that fail first. We build that. When the finish inside the pool is tired, we coordinate a licensed pool contractor. We do not pretend we pour gunite. If the shell is done, that is a Naples pool terrace — not this remodel.
If it is structurally sound, tearing it out is theater. Remodel the room around it.
Deck work is weeks on site, not a Collier County pool permit cycle. Seasonal clients feel that.
From the lanai, you read coping and field — not the gunite. Change the terrace, change the house.
Slip, heat, and ponding are deck problems. Honed travertine and correct fall fix them.

Final walkthrough on the terrace. Care notes for stone. Then it is a room again — morning coffee, guests, August afternoons.
OVERLAY VS DEMO
Overlay is a technical call, not a sales trick. Sound concrete, working drainage, elevation that still clears the cage and the coping: overlay can be right. Failed field, ponding, or a beam joint that has opened: demo. Driveways are not overlaid as a default — that load needs a full base. See Naples hardscape and pavers for motor courts.
Most paver decks in Collier County do not need a building permit. Walls over 24 inches, stormwater ties, and AE-zone work do. We check that against Collier County building permits before the start date locks.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Sometimes. If the slab is sound, drains, and the elevation still clears cage doors and coping, an overlay can be the honest path. If the field has failed, holds water, or the beam joint is gone, we demo. We do not overlay driveways as a default — vehicle load is a different spec.
On-site work typically runs 1–3 weeks depending on demo, material, and whether waterline tile or an interior refinish is coordinated with the deck. Material lead time sits in front of that — domestic travertine is often 1–2 weeks; imported porcelain or select stone can run 3–6 weeks. Thomas gives a realistic start date, not an optimistic one.
For a wet terrace in SWFL sun, honed or tumbled travertine stays cooler underfoot and grips when wet. Concrete pavers work when the color is light and the finish is not polished. Poured concrete cooks and cracks. Dark stone on a west exposure is a mistake you feel every August. Full comparison: the pool deck material guide.
If the shell is structurally sound, remodel the terrace — deck, coping, drains — and coordinate a licensed pool contractor for interior refinish or waterline tile if the finish is tired. Precision Landscaping & Design does not hold a swimming-pool contractor license. We build the deck and coordinate the pool trade under the same contract when the interior needs work. A new shell is a different page.
Yes. Many Grey Oaks and Port Royal clients decide from the Northeast or Midwest, then want the backyard ready for season. First conversation can be remote. Thomas walks the deck in person before materials lock. Daily updates and the client portal keep you off the job.
Most paver pool decks and walkways in Collier County do not require a building permit. Permits apply when we add retaining walls over 24 inches, structural work, drainage that ties into county stormwater, or work in AE flood zones. HOA approval is separate — Grey Oaks, Pelican Bay, and Quail West review material and color. We design to that from the first session.
